We meandered about the Pearl district of Portland before realizing that many of the galleries had the same art in them as they did last week. So we headed to the Everett Station Lofts (affordable artist studios in the heart of Old Town Portland).

Here is one image of an interactive art exhibit that had everyone using a screwdriver to screw screws into a soccer ball.

I was surprised how easy it was to do this. I did not expect it to be simple at all. The soccerball was made of the perfect material for this task.

The final result was a slightly spongy screw ball that looked very industrial and futuristic. It was also very heavy. The artist placed it on a soft pillow, for extra irony.

This ancient food supply collection was rather entertaining, as it was hosted in the smallest art gallery in Portland. One had to crawl on hands and knees to get inside, and it only had room for about 5 people at a time. I asked the artist about his collection, and he told me how he’d aquired some of the art pieces.

“I went to old stores and looked for their most ancient items”, he said, “on numerous occasions I had the store clerks say, ‘you really don’t want to buy that…do you?’, and I said, ‘of course I do! Yes!”.

Painstakingly drawn pictures were nice to look at and drew much attention. Additionally, this particular gallery had wine and Zines, so all were drawn to it.

This was part of an exhibit that moved. It was pretty cool looking, but better as a video. I apologize for not taking one.
